GOW - Get Online Week

The Get Online Week annually takes place during the last week of March and encourages and supports people to use the internet with events and trainings. In 20 European countries the GOW will motivate people who are not yet online, to use digital media and will raise awareness for the advantages and risks in the digital world.

Get Online Week is a campaign that was created and established in 2011 by the European network ALL DIGITAL and the EU Commissioner for the Digital Agenda Neelie Kroes in order to counteract the digital divide.

The campaign includes all members of society and current topics:

  • Digital empowerment - seeking to raise awareness and build people´s set of skills required by the available digital jobs.
  • Digital inclusion - making sure nobody is left behind, by raising awareness and initiating offliners and various disadvantaged groups in the online world.

Role of the Digital Opportunities Foundation

The Digital Opportunities Foundation is national partner of ALL DIGITAL and organises the Get Online Week in Germany. Every year the foundation organises events, workshops and trainings designed to interest different target groups and individually introduce them to the internet. Further, the foundation invites public internet access points across Germany to take part in the Get Online Week with their own initiatives.
