YouRock was founded to support the employability of young people between the ages of 14 and 25. It was created specifically to show that young people have a range of work skills often hidden in the things they do every day and to give them the language of employers to describe those skills.
During the workshop "YouRock - Come Find Your Strengths!" media educators helped young adults to reflect on their future professional perspectives, the changes of self-presentation on the internet and how it can influence the job search. The Digital Opportunities Foundation, in cooperation with Unitymedia, offers free workshops in three federal states - Baden-Württemberg, Hesse und North Rhine-Westphalia - for youth centres and schools.
It is the goal of the Foundation to specially reach socially and educationally disadvantaged youths and interest them, for example, in the IT sector. In a further step the networking with potential employers via www.yourock.jobs should be enabled.
Role of the Digital Opportunities Foundation
The Digital Opportunities Foundation implements the project “YouRock - Come Find Your Stregths!' in cooperation with Unitymedia GmbH, one of Germany’s leading cable network operators. The foundation oversees the trainers and designs the workshops in which young adults can discover their own strengths and with the help of YouRock present these online.
