After the successful event series “Berlin Talks 2003/2004'' the Digital Opportunities Foundation continued the discussion about digital inclusion in the society in 2005 on an international level.

Aim of the project

After the successful event series “Berlin Talks 2003/2004'' the Digital Opportunities Foundation continued the discussion about digital inclusion in the society in 2005 on an international level. In cooperation with the Alcatel SEL foundation for communication research and the German Association of Towns and Municipalities as well as the Initiative D21 a conference at the Ludwig-Ernst-Haus in Berlin was organised on June 20th 2005 with the topic digital inclusion in rural areas.

 

Speakers included guests from Great Britain, Austria, Poland, Hungary and Germany as well as members of ERDE (European Rural Development by means of Education) Learning Partnership of the EU Commission who introduced their projects.

 

During the final panel discussion experts from politics, administration, academia and economy as well as social welfare funding organisations discussed how digital inclusion can be promoted in rural areas.
