Aim of the project

The Get Online Week annually took place during the last week of March and encouraged and supported people to use the internet with events and trainings. In 20 European countries the GOW intended to motivate people who were not yet online, to use digital media and it aimed to raise awareness for the advantages and risks in the digital world.

Get Online Week is a campaign that was created and established in 2011 by the European network ALL DIGITAL and the EU Commissioner for the Digital Agenda Neelie Kroes in order to counteract the digital divide. In 2018, the Get Online Week was renamed All Digital Week.

The campaign included all members of society and current topics:

  • Digital empowerment - seeking to raise awareness and build peopleĀ“s set of skills required by the available digital jobs.
  • Digital inclusion - making sure nobody is left behind, by raising awareness and initiating offliners and various disadvantaged groups in the online world.

The Digital Opportunities Foundation is national partner of ALL DIGITAL and organised the Get Online Week in Germany. Every year the foundation organised events, workshops and trainings designed to interest different target groups and individually introduce them to the internet. Furthermore, the foundation invited public internet access points across Germany to take part in the Get Online Week with their own initiatives.
